The event focuses on key priorities for the TV and screen production sector.

Areas for discussion include:

  • the new production landscape - policy priorities and the impact of changing market dynamics:
    • reassessing the role of PSB - findings of the Ofcom review, and progress on the work of the Public Service Broadcasting Advisory Panel and its advice to government
    • fostering competition - including prospects for market entrant subscription and on-demand services
    • opportunities for the UK production sector - from new investment in original content
    • promoting the UK as a production hub - and as an exporter of content and services going forward
  • the global market with the UK outside the EU:
    • EU transition four months on - assessing conditions and business development, how producers are reconfiguring, and priorities for fiscal policy, tariffs and future EU and global trade
    • UK international competitiveness - tackling the challenges for the sector, as well as looking at strategies and what is needed from the regulatory and policy framework
    • partnerships and collaboration - assessing developments within the UK and internationally
  • moving forward in the wake of COVID-19:
    • how players in the sector have adapted and innovated - what can be learned and carried forward
    • government support measures - assessing their effectiveness, what more might be needed, and how it should be targeted and administered
    • the sector’s longer-term recovery - priorities for policy, regulation, the wider industry and the Broadcasting, Film and Production working group set up by DCMS


The conference is bringing together stakeholders with key policy officials who are due to attend from DCMS; Ofcom; DIT; HMRC; and The Scottish Government.
