'EU competition rules rely on a common definition of terms, including the concepts of ‘relevant product market’ and ‘relevant geographic market’. The Commission defined these in its 1997 notice to help identify the boundaries of competition between firms.It will now evaluate whether to update this notice to ensure:
• it is accurate and up-to-date
• it sets out a clear, consistent and accessible approach to market definition in competition cases (antitrust/merger) across different industries.'
