The media market 'black hole' of 2020: 40 billion HUF gone (Hungary)

The COVID-19 pandemic created a 'black hole' on the Hungarian media market, a minus 40bn HUF decline in the overall revenue in 2020 of close to 900 media companies (including advertising, distribution and other revenues of media companies - television, radio firms, print and online publishers, cinema and out-of-home companies).

The volume of a leading media company has gone, resulting in an 11% decline in media company revenues in 2020. As a comparison, in 2009 the decline was 9%.

Can we expect this revenue back by 2022? What are the key global and local trends to consider when preparing for 2022?
